Ick…
Been reading a lot of Go books, and not playing enough real games I think.
I see all of the great moves that can be played against me, and play ‘damage prevention’ right off- on the assumption that they’ll actually be played otherwise. I screw myself over by expecting my opponents to be better than they are, and lose to simple moves and simply strategies instead. Everything has aji, and I’m letting that aji push me around, even when the person I’m playing obviously doesn’t see it. I wonder if many Go players have to go through this, or if I’m just killing my ability to play by getting too deeply involved in theory, and not involved enough in practice…
Hard to run around on KGS and play dozens of games in a day when I’m suddenly getting destroyed by weaklings though. *sighs*
