Started watching ‘Hatsukoi Limited’ and am now on episode 5. This series has a lot that I really like in an anime: heavy in romance, heavily differentiated characters, and just enough comedy and ecchi to keep things lighthearted without going overboard. The art is well done, and though the animation isn’t very good the genre makes it rather irrelevant (a fight scene in the first episode is the only reason its really noticeable).
I dunno, given that this is the kind of series I typically really like, it’s strange that I’m not enjoying it more. I think one of the major problems is that there’s simply too many characters. It wasn’t so bad in ‘KimiKiss’ since the title was heavily focused around three developing relationships (and took it more seriously), but in this one the romance is all over the place and there’s even more characters in the mix. There isn’t enough time given to each of them individually to really connect much with the characters thus far, and comedy is thrown in at some really awkward parts when I think they’d be better off taking it seriously for a moment. I can only hope that it gets more serious later on, because as funny as everything’s been so far, if it ends without any relationships starting up between any of the 10 main characters I think I’ll be rather upset.
